  1. Hey guys,

Thank you for another entertaining show. I live in KY and every since listening to Iranican, I’ve been a happier person! It’s so nice to listen to you guys speak Farsi and crack Iranian jokes. All the hosts are equally funny and fun to listen to.

To answer your question regarding Norouz, my family sets up the 7sin table and we obviously get some eidy but, the whole didani thing doesn’t really happen because we don’t have family here. But, sometimes there are random Norouz parties that we go to.

Thanks again and keep up the great work :)

  2. Guys

Let’s get real and be honest for a second. This movie had no or very little artistic value whatsoever. In a fair and balance competition, it couldn’t even be the best movie of the year in Iran let alone winning Oscar. I believe by choosing this one, western cinema wanted to convey this message that they have nothing against Iranian cinema and Iranian people in general.
Do you really think this piece of depressing crap is comparable with masterpieces such as slum dog millionaire, crash, Gladiator, American beauty, Titanic, Forrest Gump ,….

When you try to compare this movie with other movies which won Oscar, you will see there is no comparison and no logic that can justify it.

    1. @Bahram:

I disagree with you, I believe the movie was very powerful and had strong messages beyond what was being portrayed on the surface. My question to all those who say the Oscar was a political stunt is: Why has this movie won over 60 other awards and trophies all over the world? Or why is rated 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, one of the most popular movie critic sites out there?

I agree it’s depressing, and it may not exactly be what we would like to see, but there is a genuin emotion in it that can’t be compared to any of the movies you’ve mentioned.

Alan Hooshang behem fohsh mideh!!! Hahahaha…

    2. Your views obviously aren’t shared by millions all over the world and by people who know a little bit about the art of films. This movie is without any doubt one of the best movies I have ever seen. A beautiful piece of master telling. The film was also nominated for best screenplay which is very very rare for a foreign film. It is so typical us Iranians that we always have a conspiracy theory behind everything. I think it’s sad, and distracts focus from the talented director and the wonderful actors and actresses in movie, who have worked hard to get to where they are now.

Your views that it is a depressing movie and hence a bad one, is not uncommon among Iranians, unfortunately. I think Iranians, especially from the older generation, think that all movies must make them laugh and should entertain them, otherwise what’s point of going to see a movie? A good movie is one that evokes emotions within you, be it of joy, sadness, anxiety or suspense.
