Visiting Tirgan 2011 in Toronto

Iranican’s Iman went to Toronto to do a video report on Tirgan 2011. The video report will be available in the next week or so, we will publish the video here and on our facebook page. For now we get a verbal description of what a $700,000+ festival with over 100,000 attendees was like with co-host Farzad and Nasim, as well as guest Yasaman, and Laila. They also briefly talk about the beautiful city of Toronto.

This radio show, nor this post will do the festival justice in terms of reporting, but it is worth mentioning that Tirgan hosted Radio Javan’s DJ Delbar in a beautiful party with great music for two nights that rocked Toronto’s harbor past 2AM!

Our guest Laila is also an advocates against animal cruelty in Iran and shares with us ways that everyone in Iran and abroad can help dogs in Iran. The website for Vafa is Cal.ir and their facebook page is here. If you are in the United States and want to contribute financially to Vafa, make sure you do so in compliance with OFAC regulations, otherwise you may easily soon be eating fruit cocktails in prison.

Iranian Live Talk Show airs on RadioJavan.com every other Wed @ 7PM, every Fri 9AM on BamdadRadio.com Sacramento, and is available for podcast every Wed on Iranican.com.

  1. I am sad to say that I think this show has deteriorated since it’s launch. I miss the interesting discussions and ideas that were put forward during the time when show had Iman, Mahvash, Ali (revolution of the mind) and Shahed as the hosts. The chemistry and dynamics of the show was so much better then. These last couple of times the show has really turned into a mess. You have to understand that doing a radio talk show is not the same thing as going to starbucks with your friends and having a chat. Unfortunately that’s exactly how it feels listening to the show: you interrupt each other all the time so in the end the thing someone wanted to say is never said, many times more than one person is talking and it is really difficult to hear, remember we are not sitting next to you so we don’t get much of the jokes you are laughing at – we only hear your laughs (mostly farzad’s laugh), for a joke to resonate with listeners it has to be purely based on the words you say, please rethink the idea of having the show every week – I really doubt that you will have enough material to fill the shows and in the end people will get bored and you will lose listeners, the foundation of the show is supposed to be about the iranian culture – WHERE is the culture on the program?

I would really appreciate if you could have a reunion show with just Iman, Mahvash, Ali and Shahed. Then all the new listeners could hear what show was really about, “back in old days” :) Finally – Iman – try to get the show back on track.

  2. Contrary to what Niloofar said, I think the show is doing great. Its full of laughter and positive energy. A pure, serious talk show does not appeal to the younger audience as much. Hence the need for a balance. Niloofar shayad to age kardi tastet avaz shode:p

Get a sense of humor, this is America and people are free to act and talk the way they like, I persoanlly think this show is funny and good entertainment with few educatioanl points here and there. I enjoy listening to it. and Farzad keep the good laughter going man.

My only suggestion is bring more guests and invite different people. There is a huge persian community living in bay area and I am sure there are lots of successful pleasant people who will accept your invite to talk at your show and share their experience with your audience. So instead of bringing that dumb khanom Doctor for 3 continous weeks we can have more variety of guests. Also it can be helpful if that iranian girl ask less questions and make better contribution.
