Unrequited Love: Wanting what You Can’t Have, Classic

Have you ever had feelings for someone and never told them? Have you ever been in love with someone who didn’t feel the same way about you? Did you hang on to hope and wishful thinking for much too long? If you’re saying NO, you’re lying to yourself. Everyone at some point in their lives will experience the rejection and sadness that comes from wanting someone who does not want you. Whether it’s a friend who wants to stay in the friend zone, or a stranger who wishes you’d just get the clue.

So why do we fall so deeply and convince ourselves that the day may come that they will feel the same way? In my opinion, its just human nature. You want what you can’t have, the grass is greener on the other side. And when you’re rejected, your desire grows that much stronger because it becomes a chase. You are the pursuer, and you believe that persistence and hard work (as in all other arenas of life) will get you your prey. The bad news is that in the fickle game of love, the person who is reluctantly being chased will probably grow more and more disgusted and distant.

Being delusional, sad, hopeful, and infatuated. These are all symptoms of Unrequited Love: a love that is intense but never reciprocated equally or fulfilled. Think Leili & Majnoon.
Whether you’ve been the pursuer, or the pursued; listen to the show and get some insight on why people fall for the wrong frogs, and get some tips if this ever happens to you again.

  2. Thanks for a great show and an interesting topic! I think the point Shahed brought up about the other part also being interested in you without you knowing it is quite common. This has happened to me personally many times. I think guys in general are not very good at picking up signals from girls, which is part of the problem in my case. For this reason I really appreciate girls who are straight forward and express their feelings in words rather than giving signs that are difficult to interpret.

  3. Hello People.

    Khobin?

First of all, thank you for an awesome show! i found it very hard not to giggle at my work desk when you guys were talking about your experiences of unrequited love. Especially poor Ali.
I’ve been on both ends and can honestly say i find it easier to be the one in love rather than the one on the receiving end. It’s so much easier liking someone than having to field an admirers attempts at making you like them. And since I’m not the type to pretend to be oblivious to other peoples feelings i find it easier to be ignored than to be the one ignoring.

Just one more thing, I’m SO SO SO excited that K-One is on your show today! I love him i think he is so funny!

  4. Sugar High!!!

Thanks for your energetic message! Regrettably, Kvon couldn’t make it in today. Now you can go start a site against Iranican if you wish, but he promised to be here for our next show.

Also, Elnaz’s nose is awesome, thanks for asking! However it wasn’t Elnaz who had the surgery, it was Yasaman, and she has recovered. It’s just that she has been breathing through her mouth for such a long time, it’s going to take her some time to learn how to breath normally, so don’t expect a dramatic change.

Thanks for listening and your enthusiastic support, we’ll be sure to give him a Doodoo doo doo cheer when he comes on the show just for you.

    Take care,

    Borhan

    P.S. A popular idea for an anti-iranican site is Iranicant.com. You’re welcome.

  5. Akhey you replied :) You’re so dedicated :)

It’s totally cool don’t worry about Kvon, You guys had a good show today. I am a bit confused though, why would i start an anti Iranican website? it seems a bit extreme. But hey I’m sure if anyone wants to, they will take up your idea and call it Iranicant ( so don’t feel like you wasted your suggestion on me ).

I have no idea why i though Yasaman’s name was Elnaz, she doesn’t even sound like an Elnaz. Anyway I’m glad Yasaman and her new nose are well, give her my best :) I liked her voice but if  her nose has stopped growing then that’s a good thing

I’ll be listening for your Doodoo doo doo cheers for  Kvon :)

  6. I think the key message from the show was the final thought that I think Shahed brought up: it IS often the run-away imagination that creates a non-existant “reality”, a fantasy of a future that is so gripping we lose ourselves in so easily. Yet with all that said, I believe it is better to have loved and lost, even if it is one-sided, than to have never loved…
