Iranian Americans are of the most likely candidates for LDRs, Long Distance Relationships. From School & Military Service Issues to the scarcity of finding other Iranians to match up with, there are more than enough reasons to make this phenomenon a more likely issue for us. In the process of putting this show together, we combine our “in house” expertise with research and bring you useful tips for your LDR, which is actually applicable to any relationship. Listen for the complete discussion, and here are some of the tips if you have to run:
1. Agree on an end – There has to be an agreed upon goal to look forward to when you first embark upon long-distance relationships. Otherwise, it will be frustrating (ASK MEN.com)
2. Increase your communication, loveagame.com suggests at least an e-mail every other day, make it extensive and intimate
3. The further apart you are, the richer you’d need to be to keep the relationship going, or you can go work for an airline. Askmen.com suggests min physical meetings of every 6 weeks
4. Don’t end chats/phone conversations in a fight
5. Try to use video chat as much as possible and get versed in your e-mail chat skills (Communication is 7% words, 38% Tonality, 55% body-language, coined by Albert Mehrabian)
6. If you are the type that is very dependent on your partner, try to avoid LDRs
7. If you’re a control freak or are generally skeptical of your significant other, avoid LDRs
8. Quit while you’re ahead (if the work is more than the reward and the future isn’t looking better) randomreviewcrew.com
