Inferiority Complex: Iranian’s Love for the West

Download the MP3: (High Quality)

Do we Iranians have an inferiority complex? Do we believe that “Western” culture and/or identity is inherently better than ours? What does “Western” culture mean anyway? Isn’t culture constantly in a state of flux? The Iranican Crew explores this issue and the arguments get heated.

    Message: Salaam to everyone,

I believe It has to do with commercialism making money; I believe some of Iranian people who are living abroad are trying very hard to fit in. People here are changing their names and sometime even changing their country of origin to fit in. Changing hair color and wearing contact are nothing compare to the changing name and refusing to mention your national origin.

  2. Haleh Jaan,

We intentionally plan for some of our co-hosts to speak English and some to speak Farsi. Our target audience are the young generation of Iranian-Americans who are growing up here, and unfortunately many of them are not as strong in Farsi as you are, so to be able to keep them in the discussion we split the language by co-host. We are also hopeful that in the process of listening to both languages simultaneously, some of our listeners will pick up and learn a few new words.

I understand how the language switching could become annoying to some, but this we have found, through the years that we’ve done our panel talk shows, is the best way to connect to this generation. You and I maybe prefer one language over the other, but we understand and many time speak in a hybrid way.

Please don’t hesitate to respond, you are a valuable voice and we take every comment and concern seriously, so tell us what you think?

Thanks for listening and for sharing your thoughts.

  3. All the Persians I know have MAJOR issues. The guys hate their ethnic features and try to front on the outside, but its so easy to see how insecure they are. . .they kiss ass to Whites and stab each other in the back, which is very SAD.

The women are ALWAYS angry at the world, smell like B.O. and very hairy
