Omid

As Iranians we come from a culture that has always been rich and influential in the field of science.

With that said it was announced that last Tuesday Iran became the 8th country in the world to send its first domestically built satellite into space. This only further establishes Iran’s rightful and respected place in the field of science.

The satellite has been named Omid which translates into “hope”.

Certain countries are expressing their worries about the launching of Omid. However, Iran is quick to reassure everyone that this satellite is purely meant for peaceful purposes and that there is no hidden agenda.

Reactions among the general Iranian public are similar in that they almost always express their happiness and sense of pride.

The launching of Omid has come after sanctions that have been imposed upon Iran.

For all the countries that have questioned Iran’s validity in the field of science the launching of Omid has shown Iran’s relevance to this field. These Iranian scientists have proven to the entire world that that with enough hard work and determination anything is possible. :)

  1. You brought up a very interesting topic. I believe despite all the negativity and all the harsh conditions that has slapped Iran’s middle to lower class population over the past decades due all of the sanctions, embargoes, and blockades, there is a small bright side, which is self-sufficiency in many fields, scientific and not.

I can definitely see how all of this will assure Iran’s come-back in a much bolder, stronger way. No question change will come, sooner or later, Iranians will find what’s lost, if any, and regains much more in the process. Fact of the matter is that like any revolution in the history of mankind, it takes decades to get to what people really want. Whether you like it or not, there is no choice but going through turmoil and instability, before reaching the state of strength.

Nonetheless this does not take away from the fact that there is much mismanagement and misconducts going on almost everywhere in the country, but we the people need to learn to discipline ourselves and recognize our shortcomings to overcome any obstacle.

There is light at the end of this tunnel!
