It’s almost Thanksgiving, and there are always some who are new to this holiday, whether it is because they have just landed on KLM, or one way or another have never been exposed to a real American Thanksgiving dinner!
Iranican decided to take on the task of explaining this historical holiday and its traditions the real American way with our own Thanksgiving Nazzi from Boston (that’s “na-tzi” as in Nazzi Germany, not to be confused with Nazi, short for Nazanin or nice and caressing!).
The discussion of course leads us to analyze our own Iranican ways of gathering with family and what happens when you spend too much time with your Mamanbozorg, Khaleh, Ammeh, Amoo, and Daei’s in a confined area… What our Mehmooni priorities are and how men resolve all world conflicts and epidemics in that single meeting, and women find a match for every single soul capable of breathing in the family!
Listen in and tell us what you think an Iranian Mehmooni is about? Or how can we make this beautiful Turkey day more Iranian and less American?
Plus an exclusive interview with Ramin Hedayati, Associate Producer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Ramin was the one who exposed Sean Hannity’s show on Fox News for using false footage of a rally. Check out the hilarious video mentioning Ramin below. And listen to the show for the interview.

  1. Thanks for sharing your opinion. I think we should celebrate every single event in countries which are living in, beside our traditional events. I think it depends on people to decide how to celebrate, Iranian or American.

I was impressed with the song in 47:00, could you please who is the singer or what is the name of the band?

  2. Mostafa jan,
There is a transition at Min 47 the song that is transitioning out is Elcid & Samyar – Goli and the following one is
Ashkin Ft. Alishmas – Tah Taghari
    Thanks for listening,
    Borhan

  3. Salaam,

I just listened to the first 20 minutes of the program so my comments could be incorrect.
It seems that the hospitality (mehmoon navazi) and party (mehmooni) was a bit confused. I think the famous (whether true or not) Iranian hospitality is that they treat their guests such a way to make them feel at their own home and make them their first priority.
I agree with you that Taarof is a problem of our culture and causes a lot of headaches because in some sitations you don’t even know what you should do. There is a wiki entry for it that’s quite ineteresting

In any case I always appreciate the fact that you are bringing up this interesting subjects for discussion.
