Iranican & Iranian Americans Rally to Restore Sanity

Download the MP3: (High Quality)

This rally
has Iranian-American written all over it. For once, the over-saturation of us in Science, Law, and Medicine will not keep us from being represented properly. Without a doubt, we are those who are “too busy to go to rallies, who actually have lives and families and jobs.” Although we couldn’t possibly sum up our political views in one sentence, we can all agree that yelling only makes for bad Satellite TV programming. So if you’re tired of the dinosaurs who do this, or are yourself a born-again dinosaur, we invite you to join us as we travel from San Francisco to DC, to stand with Jon Stewart & Stephen Colbert in The Rally to Restore Sanity / March to Keep Fear Alive.

What are we doing?
Aside from encouraging you to join us. We will plan on being in a specific area so that we can all stand together. We thought it would also be a good idea for all of us to be wearing the same color. We have picked red, a bold color that appears in both the American and Iranian Flags. We’re not set on Red yet, and we have set up a poll to get people’s opinion.

1. We will meet at the National Mall’s “East Seaton Park,” which is East of 4th St NW. We will meet on the North side of the Mall. (This is across “The National Gallery of Art – East Building”) Here on Google Map

2. To stand out we will be making T-shirts for everyone. We are selling this at cost, and since there is no merchandising at the event, if you want one, you need to pay for yours beforehand by clicking here and then you can pick it up from us at the event. Special Thanks to  Vision Bloom for sponsoring the T-shirt design.

3. We will be taking your suggestions on facebook or via e-mail on Signs and Mottos and will print them on banners for the event. (RestoreSanity@iranican.com or KeepFearAlive@iranican.com)

4. Most importantly , we are going to do what we do best, a comprehensive Iranican Reports video on the event and the participation of Iranian-Americans which will be available here soon after.

5. We would be doing you a disservice if we also did not tell you about a very informative 3 day Iran Human rights conference happening that same weekend at the University of Maryland. Shirin Ebadi will be a panelist at this conference, hopefully she can get a visa.

Why?
1- To show that we as Americans of Iranian descent care about the future of this country and are an active part of its fabric.
2- To show Jon Stewart our appreciation for sending Jason Jones to Iran last year for his report on the elections.
3- To show our support for the continuing ridicule of nonsense in Iran as well as the US
4- Just to have fun with each other and see friends or meet new people who also agree that yelling is bad for your throat, even though it can temporarily make anyone sound like Andy.

What can you do?
1. You can help spread the word to others by using anything you want from this site.
