Referring to a relationship between two heterosexual people of different sexes, we first try to find out exactly what relationships constitute a platonic friendship and secondly whether or not it’s even possible to have one with the opposite sex. To clarify, accepting a friend request on facebook is not enough for our definition of “friendship.” This is someone you go out of your way and convenience to spend time with. Because of the gender separated schooling in Iran, if such a phenomenon is even possible, generally speaking, do you agree it’s harder for those who have grown up in Iran to maintain it? Does it make a difference if one of the two, or both are in a relationship? Are guys or girls more open to their significant other having a platonic friend of the opposite sex?
